Back to school
A lot has happened since our last post. I quit my job in July, so I could be at home with Evan for a month or so before school started again. He is getting so much bigger! He is on two and a half meals a day (cereal three times and baby food 2 times). He is so smily (most of the time)! He is sitting up pretty well on his own. His side to side balance is a little off. He's not crawling yet, but he is rolling around so much that we had to put a gate up around his play area. If we sit him in front of the gate, he can grab the gate and pull himself up to standing! It's pretty impressive. When he's feeling really brave, he'll let go with one hand... He started daycare again when I started back to school last week. I think it is going pretty well. He has already caught his first cold, though. I think all three of us have it, actually. It's either that or really bad allergies. He didn't sleep well at all last week. He woke up every 2-3 hours for eight days or so. He had been sleeping through the whole night until then. We are all still trying to recover. The new house is coming along, though pretty slowly. Kenny took a week off two weeks ago to refinish the floors, and he's still working on that. He sanded and stained them. Now he is putting down the polyurethane. Once all that is done, we can finally start painting! Yay! That is what I am really looking forward to. After that, we'll start redoing the kitchen. Our goal is to have the main floor ready to go by the end of October, so that we can move in. While we are there, we can work on the basement. We got a new camera- it is kicka$$! I busted the old one the day before Kenny's sister got married. I was over at the new house taking before pictures for the blog and stepped off the bottom step in the basement into a large puddle of water that I hadn't seen. I had the camera in one hand and the baby in the other. My legs went out from under me, and the camera went flying. Evan was fine. He didn't even cry. He just kind of looked at me like, "How did we suddenly get so low?" The camera, however, was beyond repair. So now we have a Nikon D60. What a shame we had to replace the old one... :) I'll keep you posted as new things come along. Evan is growing so quickly that I'm sure I'll be posting more updates shortly.

4 months old- time for an update!
Sorry it's been so long! There is so much to talk about! Evan is growing and developing so fast! He is rolling over constantly now. Anytime you put him on his back he flips. And then he gets mad. He used to be able to roll from his belly to his back, but it seems he forgot how in his excitement over rolling the opposite way. His personality is becoming more and more evident. He's high-strung like his momma and has his daddy's good looks. He "talks" all the time and has his own laugh, which is absolutely adorable. He has been going to daycare and that has really improved his "social skills." He loves meeting other babies and tries to hold their hands. We think he is starting to teeth. He is a drool machine and will try to put anything in his mouth. Animals really entertain him. He just smiles and smiles at our cats. He is rapidly becoming more and more aware of the world around him. He is getting better at entertaining himself too. Though, he does better if you sit down and do things with him, rather then let him go on his own. He loves to go for walks and look around at all the stuff outside. He is developing more of a set pattern during the day, but we never know what's going to happen at night. For a while he was sleeping all the way through, but now he's waking up every few hours. He slept better when he was a newborn than he is right now. He is also a gas machine. The daycare said he was the stinkiest baby they've ever had. Guess he takes after his dad... :) We started him on solid food yesterday, and he loves it! He would grab my hand to try and force the spoon in his mouth. Today he was a little less exuberant. I think he ate too much yesterday and had an upset tummy afterward. He is definitely starting to reach for things. He loves his toys and reaches out to try and grab them, the same with other babies. He reaches for our hands but not to be held by us yet. He will lean towards us, though, when someone else is holding him and he wants us to take him. He had a doctor's appointment on Thursday. That was a little disappointing because they said he hadn't grown or put on as much weight as he should have. I watched the nurse doing all the measurements, and I think she was just doing them incorrectly. I remeasured his length after she left and got a completely different one... However, now I'm worried that he is having absorption problems. The doctor thinks he is just burning a lot of calories because he is always moving. And that is true- the child will just not stay still. He is a squirmy wormy for sure! The doctor said to start baby-proofing immediately because she thinks he is going to be an early mover. He has one more week of daycare left, and then he is going to have a full-time stay at home mommy for about a month before I start back to school. Circumstances are just better for me to leave work a month early than to keep putting him in daycare. We should also be moving to a new house shortly. The closing is next Thursday. We've already started to pick out paint swatches, and we can't wait to actually give Evan a nursery "designed" just for him. We'll keep you posted and put up some pictures as we get things going.
