Tummy time and play mat

Two months old

Evan was two months old last Tuesday. Where has all the time gone? We had his doctor's appointment on Friday. The kid is growing like a weed. He was 24 and 1/4 inches long and 12 lbs. 11 oz. Kenny thinks he actually weighs more than that. The scale was too short for him and he had his foot down on the base pushing up, so it might have made him seen a little light. He is already into the 3-6 months clothes, and some of those are starting to look a little small. Basically what we are saying is the child is a giant! The doctor thinks he'll be rolling over any day. He's starting to watch his feet and rub his hands together. It's really cute! He gets to meet Maia this weekend when Dennis and Mary come up for a visit. We are all very excited! Let's hope his size doesn't intimidate her. Mary said she's only a half inch taller than he is (and there is about a 4 month difference in age...). He is definitely becoming a happier baby. We think it has a lot to do with his being around new people and in new places. When he is at home, he seems to get bored and is a lot more cranky. We're starting to look around at some new places for a more permanent abode that's a little more baby friendly. We still have a while to go on our lease, so we are just playing around right now. We'll see where it goes.

Apparently, he missed the memo because he was a cranky one all day.

School's out for summer!

mid-sneeze

Exam week is officially over! Now I just have to get my final observation hours done and I'll be ready for admittance into the Master's of Occupational Therapy class of 2011. Last semester was really tough, but I'm glad I stuck it out. I've got one more semester of undergrad work in the fall and then most of my prerequisites will be filled. The master's program will start next spring. We've taken Evan in to see my instructors and classmates a few times. He loves it! The first time he came in, all the girls just flocked to him (there are only 2 guys in my class). Evan just smiled and smiled! He's going to be a little ladies man... His tastes are starting to become more apparent this week. He loves his bouncer and is starting to fall asleep in the swing finally. He loves bathtime now! He just kicks and smiles and giggles. Just the change over the past few weeks is amazing. He will be two months old on Tuesday! Where does the time go?! Kenny's been back to work for two weeks now. He's been swamped, and it was a little difficult for both of us this past week because of trying to schedule time for me to study during the day and to make sure he finished all he needed to at work. It's definitely taken some getting used to. The good news is that by the time he gets home and I'm exhausted, he's ready for some serious Evan time and hangs out with him while I take care of what I didn't get to during the day (like showering and brushing my teeth...). I've got all of next week off and then it's back to work. So I'll have to make sure Evan and I make the most of it next week. After that, it's babysitters or daycare two days a week. I'm exhausted on the days where I'm home with him all day, but I still feel guilty for sending him to daycare. We can't afford the daycares we want to send him to, and I worry about other people taking care of him anyways. It's going to be really rough for me when he finally starts.
